GENERAL JOB STATEMENT
Assist with all daily
aspects of wean to finish production including, but not limited to, day to day
care of wean to finish pigs, wean pig placement, individual and group
medication, record keeping and minor facility maintenance. This position will require travel among
multiple sites within the pig flow group.
Eligible for health,
dental, vision, life, short- and long-term disability following 60 days of
employment. Eligible for PTO and holiday pay following 90 days of employment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include
the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Assist with day-to-day care
of 14 wean to finish barns. Groups of
pigs will range from 18 days to 26 weeks of age
Primary responsibility will
be to care for the wean pigs in each barn until a portion of the pigs are moved
to finishing at approximately 8 weeks.
Responsible for load in and
load out of pigs
Ensuring accurate pig
count, pig placement, sorting, and quality control
Assist with the
administration of vaccination, and consulting with service staff and company
veterinarian on individual and group treatments.
Responsible for ordering
feed in a timely manner from the NFP Feed Department
Ensure all records are
filled out accurately and completely and faxed into the Production Records
Department in a timely manner.
ENVIRONMENT & MAINTENANCE
bio-security protocol, and consult company veterinarian with questions
Assist in minor facility
Manager of any environmental issues immediately
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or GED
and experience in swine industry preferred but not required.
SKILLS and/or ABILITIES
Ability to communicate
effectively and read and interpret procedure manuals. Effective time management and to
independently schedule activities.
Interacts closely with the
Wean to Finish Supervisor and other Contract Growers
While performing the duties
of this job, the employee is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills
sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop,
kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50
pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity,
including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate
equipment and read application information. The associate frequently is
required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. Able to lift up to
50 lbs and climb 4 foot gates.
