GENERAL JOB
STATEMENT
This is a split position consisting of farm maintenance and wean piglet movements. Responsibilities will include the daily performance of construction maintenance and repair projects on the farm as well as assisting with the daily aspects of piglet movement, loading, unloading and transportation of piglets from the sow farm to finishing sites.
ESSENTIAL
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform
general troubleshooting, diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and
make adjustments
Perform all maintenance tasks related to heating,
ventilation, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, locksmithing, welding and other
miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Assist with all aspects of piglet movement Loading,
unloading, and transportation of piglets
Maintain
wean bus cleanliness (power washing and sweeping)
Maintain
accurate DOT inspection records
Follow
all NFP production policies
Other
Requirements and Responsibilities
Attend
staff meetings and training meetings as scheduled
Follow
all safety rules and practices and encourage coworkers to do the same
Follow
all applicable bio-security measures per NFP policies
Regular,
consistent attendance
Any
and all other tasks and responsibilities as may be required by NFP
REQUIRED
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Strong
organizational skills

Ability

Valid
class A CDL driver's license
Meet
and pass DOT physical requirements
MVR
must meet insurability requirements
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Experience
in swine industry preferred but not required
ORGANIZATIONAL
RELATIONSHIPS
Interacts closely with the Sow Farm Manager, farrowing and nursery technicians.
Should have the ability to communicate with transportation maintenance
regarding daily DOT inspections.
PHYSICAL
DEMANDS
While
performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to have ordinary
ambulatory skills sufficient to move throughout the farm and bus; the ability
to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb 2 and 4-foot gates, manipulate
(lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of up to 50 pounds.
