The Farrowing Technician is responsible
for assisting with the daily aspects of swine farrowing, including the
maintenance of farrowing targets, individual sow and piglet care, feeding,
farrowing, piglet health and vaccination program, nutrition, and record

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Swine Farrowing Department
Administer medicine to sows and piglets.
Adjust heat mats.
Assist with piglet vaccination and
Assist with pre-farrow and post-farrow
Complete daily farrowing records and
weekly pigCHAMP records.
Ensure accurate count of piglets being
Follow all OFP production policies.
Maintain accurate records.
Maintain organized and clean work area,
including washing rooms and sweeping isles.
Perform daily chores of animals for
Maintain unit cleanliness.
Sow and piglet condition.
Perform piglet processing:
Giving iron shots.
Pick up dead piglets and afterbirth.
Set room up.
Tear room down.
Create a positive work environment for
co-workers by leading from example.
Define personal and business short and

and in the community.

Attend staff meetings and trainings as scheduled and required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to communicate effectively.
Able to do basic math (i.e. adding
subtracting, dividing, and multiplying).
Experience in swine industry preferred
but not required.
Interacts closely with the Sow Farm
Manager and other Farrowing Technicians.
While performing the duties of this job,
the employee is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to move
throughout the farm; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb
4-foot gates, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) medium to heavy weights of
50-75 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger
dexterity, including ability to grasp. Frequently required to sit, reach with
hands and arms, and communicate.
