Fashion Pork is seeking a Weaned Pig Specialist for our Jewell IA location. Responsible for overseeing and assisting with
the daily aspects of weaned pig placement for specific flow in company managed
swine units and contract wean to finish and finishing growers. The individual
will ensure that daily grower practices comply with company policies and relate
to profitable swine production. The Specialist will oversee the health status
of the nurseries and finishing facilities, and establish and maintain wean to
finish and finishing production targets and goals.
with training of wean to finish and finishing personnel when needed.
monitor and work daily with newly weaned pigs.
with service staff and company veterinarian on health issues.
accurate head count at time of weaned and feeder pig placement and conduct
quality control on marginal pigs.
weekly visits to each wean to finish/finishing production unit to review
current production and health status. Arrange times to meet with and work
alongside your growers.
daily communication with NFP office.
strict bio-security protocol.
that wean/feeder pigs are being sorted as needed at time of placement. If
needed, assist with wean/feeder pig placement and sorting.
all feed budgets, diet formulation, quality of feed delivered, feed costs and
facility ventilation and environment of facilities.
the health status and make decisions on treatments (water, feed or mass
medication) and vaccination possibilities.
available to contract growers to assist with vaccinations, choring, moving
pigs, and close outs.
responsibility will be to implement NFP's Weaned Pig Plan for each new group of
weaned pigs, including barn setup, controller setup, and receiving pigs.
contract growers with the required medication inventory, and ensure that the
medication is being administered according to label directions and recorded on
medicine record sheets.
for reviewing and presenting monthly financial reports to the Production Team.
group close outs with contract growers and set goals for the future groups.
contract growers and NFP office staff to ensure that accurate group records are
being recorded and that growers send records in on a weekly basis.
Bachelor's degree in Animal Science or related field plus 1 year of related
experience; Two-year technical degree in swine production or closely related
field plus one year of related experience; or three years of related experience
without a degree. Required experience
must include 1 year (or 3 without a degree) working with pigs, either in the
sow farm or in grow/finish.
Must travel to other worksites within a
one hour radius of Jewell, IA 40% of the time and must travel to worksites in
Illinois 10% of the time. Regular driver's license required.
