GENERAL JOB STATEMENT
The Wean to Finish Herdsperson is responsible for assisting with the daily aspects of wean to finish production including, but not limited to daily care of wean to finish pigs, wean pig placement, individual and group medication, record keeping, and minor facility maintenance. This position will require travel among multiple sites within the pig flow group.
Eligible for health, dental, vision, life, short- and long-term disability following 60 days of employment. Eligible for PTO and holiday pay following 90 days of employment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist with day-to-day care of wean to finish barns.
Assist with the administration of vaccination, and consulting with service staff and company veterinarian on individual and group treatments.
Ensuring accurate pig count, pig placement, sorting, and quality control.
Primary responsibility will be to care for the wean pigs in each barn until a portion of the pigs are moved to finishing at approximately 8 weeks.
Responsible for load in and load out of pigs.
Ensure all records are filled out accurately and completely and faxed into the Production Records Department in a timely manner.
Responsible for ordering feed in a timely manner from the NFP Feed Department.
Environment and Maintenance
Assist in minor facility maintenance.
Maintain strict bio-security protocol, and consult company veterinarian with questions.
Notify Environmental Manager of any environmental issues immediately.
Create a positive work environment for co-workers by leading from example.
Define personal and business short and long-term goals.
Positively represent the company at work and in the community.

Able to independently schedule activities.
Ability to communicate effectively.

Read and interpret procedure manuals.
High School diploma or GED required.
Interacts closely with the Wean to Finish Supervisor and other Contract Growers.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to move throughout the farm; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb 4-foot gates, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) medium to heavy weights of 50-75 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp. Frequently required to sit, reach with hands and arms, and communicate.
