GENERAL JOB STATEMENT
Part-time, 20-25 hours per week 5:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. (but may vary), M, T, TH, F, Assist with activities included but not limited to the care of breeding animals and semen collection and processing.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include the following other duties may be assigned)
Assist in all aspects of a boar semen collection center:
Performs daily chores of animals (feeding, checking water, and ventilation)
Performs daily health management
Semen collection and processing following predetermined schedule
Daily animal movement
Performs daily training of boars
Assist with individual health treatments and group vaccination
Assist with loading culls, unloading and moving of new stock
Maintains department cleanliness (power washing and sweeping aisles)
Ensure farm bio-security standards
Assist with dead pig removal
Maintain accurate records
Follow all NFP production policies
Maintain organized and clean work areas
Perform light maintenance (heaters, filter upkeep for filtration system, lights, feedlines, etc.)
Assist with snow removal and mowing (depending on season)
Other duties as may be assigned.
JOB SPECIFICATION:
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
One year experience in Swine Industry preferred but not necessary.
SKILLS and/or ABILITIES:
Able to do basic math – adding, subtracting, dividing and multiplying.
Ability to communicate effectively and read and interpret procedure manuals.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Able to lift up to 50 lbs, stand/ walk for extended periods of time on concrete, climb over 4 foot gates.
